An Answered Prayer

In a brief post a few days ago, I had asked you to pray for a man in our community who was dying of cancer and did not know the Lord. This man was the father of one of the members of my church.

This gentleman passed away late Tuesday evening, but I am thrilled to report that last night at church, his son shared that his father had accepted Christ as his savior before he passed away.

This was a tremendous blessing and an answer to prayer. I want to thank all of you who said a prayer for him.

  2. This is a blessing to hear. Thanks for posting it.

  3. That’s wonderful! Praise God!

  4. I write this as a warning, not to dissuade from the Grace & Love of Christ, but as a warning for those who do not fully understand what it means…remember, Jesus said; “Let the dead bury themselves.”
Jesus warned of those who would call to Him, as believers, and He would not know, nor acknowledge them. That for some, GOD is fast to their lips, but far from their hearts…That for ALL, it shall be by their DEEDS that their names are written in the ‘Book of Life’.
Yet when He was hungry, you did not feed Him. When He was thirsty, you did not give Him water. When He was cold. you did not shelter, nor clothe Him…and they cried to the LORD; “When did we see you hunger and not feed you, or thirst and we did not give you water.”
And the LORD replied; “As you have done to the least of these people, so have you done to me.” Those that show no mercy…shall receive none and shall be cast into the ‘Lake of Fire.’
Do not wait for your dying day to accept Christ as your LORD, nor His Messenger(‘Sign of Jonah’) whom He promised to send FIRST, see Him within every being you encounter…including yourself and feed Him with LOVE.
    your humble servant,
    ancient clown

  5. Janice, Ros, and Bobby, thanks for sharing in the rejoicing.

AC, I am not sure of exactly what your point is. Are you trying to say that this man did not get saved? How can one determine what is in another’s heart from so far away?

You said, Jesus warned of those who would call to Him, as believers, and He would not know, nor acknowledge them. That for some, GOD is fast to their lips, but far from their hearts…That for ALL, it shall be by their DEEDS that their names are written in the ‘Book of Life’.

Nowhere does the Bible say this. In fact the opposite is true. There will be those who claim to know Jesus, not as believers, but upon the basis of their works. It was to these that Jesus said, “Depart from me you workers of iniquity I never knew you.”

And let us not forget the dying thief on the cross, who in the waning moments of his life found eternal life by faith, not works, in the Son of God.

The true forerunner of Christ (John the Baptist) pointed men to faith in Christ. Nowhere does the Bible say that men’s names are added to the Lamb’s book of life by their deeds.

  6. Amazing grace. Praise the Lord.

  7. There is nothing more wonderful to hear this time of year! Praise God.
