Weekend Survey

It’s that time again! This week, how about sharing with us the most ridiculous news item you have heard recently?

I have two.

1. Fox News coverage of the “gunshot” scare in Washington. “This is the building where gunshots may, or may not, have been fired by a gunman who may, or may not, be in the building. We are awaiting a news conference in a moment where we may be given the ‘all clear’ signal, or maybe not.” (Is this speaking twice and saying nothing or what?)

2. A judge in Lincoln, NE, sentences a child molester to probation instead of ten years in prison because he was “too short” to survive in prison. Read about it here.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend. Be sure and say a prayer for our troops.

  1. Individual sued a department store after tripping over a child, and she broke her ankle. To find out that it was her own child. She did win the case and she brought home 35,000.

  2. Over here, child molesters are always at risk in prison, whatever their height. We just keep them segragated from other inmates.

  3. Same in the US, dyspraxic…I guess it’s called honor among thieves!

Great reporting Gordon….Cameron told me that he actually had the opportunity to interview with the group that was the subject of my “Nitwit of the week post” the other day!

There’s all kinds in this world. I guess it takes kinds like that to make us realize how sane we actually are!

And it looks like Blogger is having angina…I’m looking kinda’ anonymous!

  5. Here Down Under weve had recently a big controversey over Mark Brandond “Chopper” Read appearing in a TV ad speaking out against domestic abuse.

The contoversy was that he is a convicted murderer and hit man from melbourne’s underworld and some critics thought combatting violent behaviour with a violent fighure was counter productive.

  6. I always think it is a sign of moral weakness when you hear people talking about how angry they are about child abuse.

Generally decent people know that child abuse ia appalling and have no need to rant about it.

In Worcester one time, a guy went into a pornography shop and enquired about whether they had child porn. Some men who were in the shop took him outside and beat him up. Well, their behaviour was wicked enougth in its own right, especially as they were in a pornography shop.

  7. Dyspraxic there is a thin line about the men in porno shop , perhaps they had the little children life in thier mind ??? But if someone took a life of your family you would call it murder and the way I see the little childrens life is the same way ! THEY WILL NEVER HAVE A COMPLETLY NORMAL LIFE AND THIER MINDS ARE CONFUSED ? MAY GOD FORGIVE ME BUT I HAVE NO USE FOR A PERSON THAT RUINS A CHILDS LIFE ? I UNDER STAND THAT GOD WILL FORGIVE BUT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE OFFENDERS KEEP DOING IT OVER AND OVER WITHOUT ANY REMORSE ? THE LITTLE CHILDREN ARE ONE OF MY PET PEEVES AND I WILL DEFEND THEM UNTO THE END ??? EVERY PARENT SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NOT TEACHING THIER CHILDREN IN THE WAY THEY SHOULD GO IN LIFE ! WOE BE UNTO THE CHILD ABUSE SEX OFFENDERS NO MATTER HOW TALL OR SHORT THEY ARE ? HAVE A BLESSED DAY !? RON.

  8. Thanks all for the participation this weekend.

Matthew, I understand where you are coming from concerning the hypocrisy of many towards child sex offenders, but this is a particularly heinous crime.

My personal indignation in this matter is not only the severity of the crime, but the weakness of the judge in not applying the law.

The law is given to protect the rights of the innocent, yet more and more we see the victims of violent crimes (particularly children) being stripped of their rights while the perpetrators are given extreme rights (such as in this case).

  9. I proabably came across the wrong way.

No, I do not agree with the Judge’s decision. We have segregated wings in our prison’s for such offenders and I believe your jails have them also.

    God Bless

    Matthew
